Doughty's Island, Poole Harbour: Sold
Doughty's Island, Poole Harbour: Sold

6 inch square oil painting on gessobord.

Inspiration: I love the soft colours of this wildlife reserve in Holes Bay, Poole Harbour. This view across Holes Bay can be seen from nearby Upton Country Park. The island is actually called Perkins Island, but was nicknamed Doughty's Island after Sir Edward Doughty bought Upton County Park and its surroundings in 1828. The whole estate is now owned by Poole Borough Council. A stunningly beautiful oasis.
